Between Pain and Hope
How did it all begin?
In July 2012, a humanitarian initiative was launched from Jerusalem, carrying a name that soon became a symbol of compassion and generosity: Salamatkom Association.
The idea was born to fill a gap long felt by Arabic-speaking patients receiving treatment in Jerusalem and Israeli hospitals—particularly those referred from the Palestinian territories. It aimed to offer services that respect their language and culture, easing the burden of alienation, distance, and long waiting hours.
From the very beginning, Salamatkom set itself a clear mission: to be a warm embrace for every Arab patient stranded behind barriers or any kind of restriction, and for anyone neglected by official institutions or left without access to proper care.
Thus, Salamatkom was born out of genuine need and a deep conviction that hope itself can be a form of healing, and that a kind word can ease a pain that even medication cannot.
Today, more than a decade later, Salamatkom continues its journey of service and giving without pause. What began as a small group, barely numbering more than a few hands, has grown into a wide network of dedicated volunteers who rush to support patients and their companions—believing that true goodness is not measured in hours or rewards.
From day one, the association understood that the path would not be easy, and that humanitarian work is often fraught with challenges. Yet its founders believed that every exhaustion fades with a patient’s smile, every hardship softens with a word of thanks, and every step forward regains the true meaning of giving.
Our Team
All members of the association work on a completely voluntary basis — from the management board to the last of the volunteers. They dedicate their time and energy without any financial compensation, driven by a deep sense of mission and faith in the path they have chosen. Though their lives and occupations are diverse, they are united in their shared work by a spirit of love, generosity, and a sincere desire to do good and help others.
